Occupation with intent

On August 19, 2025, roughly 50 current and former Microsoft employees, alongside allies, occupied the East Campus Plaza in Redmond, Washington. They renamed it “The Martyred Palestinian Children’s Plaza” and turned it into an encampment demanding Microsoft end its partnerships with the Israeli military.

The site featured tents, artistic memorials, and banners- one reading “Stop Starving Gaza”- plus an open invitation for executives to sit at a negotiating table.

Accusations of complicity

Protesters cited a Guardian report accusing Israeli intelligence of using Microsoft’s Azure services to surveil Palestinians and shape military operations, calling out the company for enabling human rights abuses.

Escalating internal resistance

This protest builds on months of employee-led actions—including disruptions at company events, internal censorship of pro-Palestinian phrases, and organized dissent under the “No Azure for Apartheid” banner.
